The Valentine Theatre in Toledo, Ohio was the perfect historic site for Vanessa and Alex’s big day! We drove nearly two and a half hours up to Toledo in the pouring down rain. But somehow, once we entered downtown Toledo, not a single drop of rain for the entire day!!

The day really couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Vanessa and Alex are both such incredibly kind and caring people. They were so laid back, excited to get married and ready to have a good time! We were able to capture so many sweet moments between two loving and supportive families.

One of my favorite moments was when Vanessa delivered her parents hand written letters before the ceremony. Vanessa’s mother didn’t have her glasses nearby to read the letter and without hesitation, Vanessa told her she would read it to her aloud. It was a really sweet mother-daughter moment to both witness and photograph.

Before the ceremony, the couple shared a first look and hand written letters. With most couples, there’s always an excited-nervous energy leading up to the ceremony. From my experience as a bride and as a photographer, sharing a first look always feels like such a release. It’s a precious moment of outpouring love. It’s joyous and calming on a wedding day. And always amazing to capture!

 

The wedding ceremony took place on the beautiful grand staircase where Vanessa’s father walked her down the stairs. It was such a grand entrance for a lovely ceremony. After the ceremony, we took some just married portraits and then it was time for the celebration to begin! Throughout the night, grandparents, nieces and nephews and all family and friends were hugged tightly. The evening ended in a way any momentous occasion should, chowing down on pizza. And of course more dancing.

We loved every minute of our time with you, Mr. and Mrs. Rutter! Thank you for making us feel like part of your family for the day! I’m so excited for you to see all the photos, but for now, here are just a few of my many favorites!
