I first met Kelsey and Zak at their engagement session in Cincinnati, they are so much fun to work with and I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their anniversary session. Kelsey handcrafted so many details at her winter wedding last year and she amazed me once again with the little touches she brought for their anniversary session.
My favorite part was photographing them with their one-year anniversary cake topper! Funny story, Kelsey text me the night before telling me how they discovered a piece of their cake topper had already been cut out (since they hadn’t seen the cake since their wedding night this came as quite the surprise!!). Kelsey picked up some greenery and a gorgeous wintery floral crown from The Flowerman and it was perfect!
Side note: Fox in the Snow was PACKED we were lucky to get an end table! We arrived at 3pm (they close at 5) because I knew it would be busy. If anyone is interested in shooting there, I recommend aiming for the last 45 minutes they are open!
After we finished shooting inside we decided to brave the cold and walk down to a white-washed brick building (it’s actually being renovated and turned into a Mexican restaurant!) We lasted all of about 10 minutes and ran back in for some coffee. It was probably below zero with the windchill! We ran through a variety of poses and I kept them moving quickly to maximize our time. I was a bit nervous knowing that I was going to have to work around a lot of people and find good lighting indoors but I’m really happy with how these turned out.
Happy Anniversary one year Kelsey and Zak!!! <3
