If you’re still undecided on whether you’re going to have your photographer capture the “getting ready” portion of your wedding day, I’d like to provide you with a little more insight into what can typically unfold during this early portion of your wedding day. Sometimes I hear brides not interested in having this time built in because they simply don’t want photos of their hair and makeup being done. However, so much more can happen during this time and I have to admit, I am a huge fan of having this time built into the day. Not only for the time it gives me to capture gorgeous detail shots but also for the beautiful moments I get to capture of you with your family and friends.
To the bride: Let’s face it, once your hair and make up is done and it’s the moment you begin slipping into your dream wedding dress, nerves set in and emotions can get pretty high. The day you’ve been waiting and planning so long for suddenly becomes so real! From laughter to tears, this is a moment in time I don’t want you to forget. I think it’s important to be able to look back and see how excited and in love you felt in this moment. Soon after bustling the dress, most of my brides plan a first-look with their father, mother or both. Capturing the embrace you share with your loved ones is so genuine and true, I always feel so honored to witness these moments (as I try to hold back my own tears!).
To the groom: While your getting ready time is typically much faster than your brides, it’s a great time for me to capture you finishing up getting ready and any serious/fun/goofy shots you’d like of you with your groomsmen. Let me say, groomsmen are great at keeping you calm and finding ways to laugh and relax on your big day.
